One Spark is coming, everyone look busy!
The World’s Crowdfunding Festival returns this year on April 9-13 and Burro Bar is excited to be an Official Venue. Last year, the festival was divided into a Creator Zone and an Entertainment District, of which we fell into the latter. This year it’s all one big happy zone of innovation, creativity and <insert buzz word>. That means that in addition to providing a stage for bands and musicians, we’ll actually host four Creators throughout the entire festival. Because we know how crowded it’s going to be and our space is limited, we opted to keep the number of Creators on the small side but we expect nearly every band to take our stage at some point during the event.
Here’s the Creators you can expect to find at Burro Bar during One Spark:
On Guard are no strangers to our stage (or any Jax stage for that matter). They are one of the most hard-working bands I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing
with. They are using One Spark to connect with other local musicians and raise money to support a national tour.
The Dog Apollo
If I’m not mistaken, The Dog Apollo played their first show in The Elbow back during the Bass in the City festival a few years ago. That may have even been when the term The Elbow came into existence now that I think about it. I remember Angel from Antique Animals telling me about them after he ran their sound and they’ve been on a trajectory ever since. These young dudes are serious about what they do, well rehearsed and incredibly talented! They’ll use One Spark to support the release and promotion of their new EP.
Making music isn’t just for the kids, just ask the over 30-year-old dudes in Hey Mandible! These guys were actually around when the kind of post punk (think Fugazi) became a thing. For One Spark they’ll look to raise money for and connect with local talent to produce a short film that encapsulates their music.
A Call For Kylie
And finally, local indie/punk trio A Call For Kylie rounds out our selections. They’ve just released an EP titled, “Welcome to the Sunshine State” which they’ll be promoting at One Spark. They’ll also be raising funds to support an upcoming tour and purchasing new merch.
So be sure to visit these Creators
during One Spark and give them your vote. Stay tuned for more info regarding our stage schedule which will feature tons of local bands and some special guests that we can’t wait to tell you about!
